तां चित्रमाल्याभरणां कपिराजहितंकरः ।
राघवार्थं चरन् श्रीमान् ददर्श च ननन्द च ॥ ॥५-४-८॥
Tāṃ citramālyābharaṇāṃ kapirājahitaṃkaraḥ । Rāghavārthaṃ caran śrīmān dadarśa ca nananda ca ॥ ॥5-4-8॥
Translation
The glorious Hanuman, acting for the welfare of the King of Monkeys and roaming for the sake of Raghava (Rama), saw that city adorned with wonderful garlands and ornaments, and he rejoiced.

कपिराज सुग्रीव का हित करने वाले और रघुकुल नंदन श्रीराम के प्रयोजन के लिए विचरने वाले, श्रीमान हनुमान जी ने उस विचित्र मालाओं और आभूषणों से सजी नगरी को देखा और प्रसन्न हुए।
English Commentary
Hanuman's reaction to the city is one of joy (Nananda), but the text clarifies the context of this joy. He is described as Raghavartham caran (moving for the sake of Rama). His joy stems from the successful infiltration and the proximity to his goal, not merely the aesthetic pleasure of the scenery. The verse reiterates his loyalty to Sugriva and Rama, grounding his actions in duty. Seeing the city adorned with "garlands and ornaments" confirms the intelligence reports about Lanka's wealth. यहाँ हनुमान जी की मनोदशा का वर्णन है। यद्यपि वे शत्रु के गढ़ में हैं, फिर भी वे 'ननन्द' (प्रसन्न हुए)। यह प्रसन्नता लंका की सुंदरता देखकर एक पर्यटक की भांति नहीं, बल्कि एक योद्धा की भांति है जिसने अपने लक्ष्य (रणक्षेत्र) को पा लिया है। उन्हें 'कपिराजहितंकरः' (सुग्रीव का हितैषी) और 'राघवार्थं चरन्' (राम के कार्य के लिए विचरने वाले) कहा गया है, जो उनके उद्देश्य की पवित्रता को रेखांकित करता है। 'चित्रमाल्याभरणां' बताता है कि नगरी स्वयं एक नायिका की भांति सजी हुई थी। हनुमान जी की प्रसन्नता का एक कारण यह भी है कि जिस दुर्गम लंका के बारे में उन्होंने केवल सुना था, अब वे उसके भीतर हैं और माता सीता को खोजने का कार्य संभव प्रतीत हो रहा है। यह आत्मविश्वास की प्रसन्नता है।
