हनुमन् सिंहसङ्काशौ भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ।
सुग्रीवं च सहामात्वं सर्वान् ब्रूया ह्यनामयम् ।

hanuman siṃhasaṅkāśau bhrātarau rāmalakṣmaṇau |
sugrīvaṃ ca sahāmātvaṃ sarvān brūyā hyanāmayam ॥5-40-22॥
Translation
O Hanuman, please ask about the welfare (freedom from illness/trouble) of the two brothers Rama and Lakshmana, who resemble lions, and also of Sugriva along with his ministers and all others.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे हनुमान! सिंह के समान पराक्रमी उन दोनों भाइयों—राम और लक्ष्मण से, तथा मंत्रियों सहित सुग्रीव से, और (वहाँ उपस्थित) सभी से मेरा कुशल-क्षेम (अनामय) पूछना।
English Commentary
Despite her distress, Sita upholds the highest protocols of royal etiquette and kinship. She instructs Hanuman to inquire about the anāmayam (health/welfare/freedom from disease) of Rama and Lakshmana, whom she likens to lions (siṃhasaṅkāśau). Crucially, she includes Sugriva and his ministers (sahāmātvaṃ) in her well-wishes. This inclusion acknowledges the political alliance and expresses gratitude towards the Vanara king and his cabinet for their efforts. It demonstrates that even in her darkest hour, Sita remains the gracious Queen, mindful of all who are aiding her cause.

अपने भारी दुःख के बावजूद, सीता जी शिष्टाचार और राजधर्म नहीं भूलतीं। वे 'सिंहसङ्काशौ' (सिंह के समान) राम और लक्ष्मण का कुशल पूछती हैं। विशेष बात यह है कि वे 'सुग्रीवं च सहामात्वं' (मंत्रियों सहित सुग्रीव) का भी स्मरण करती हैं। यह उनकी राजनीतिक समझ और कृतज्ञता को दर्शाता है कि वे वानर राज और उनके मंत्रिमंडल को भी सम्मान दे रही हैं जो उनकी खोज में लगे हैं। 'अनामयम्' पूछना भारतीय संस्कृति में बड़ों और अपनों के प्रति आदर और चिंता व्यक्त करने का तरीका है।
