अभिज्ञानं च रामस्य दद्या हरिगणोत्तम ।
क्षिप्तामिषीकां काकस्य कोपादेकाक्षिशातनीम् ।

abhijñānaṃ ca rāmasya dadyā harigaṇottama |
kṣiptāmiṣīkāṃ kākasya kopādekākṣiśātanīm ॥5-40-4॥
Translation
O best among the host of Vanaras, give this token of recognition to Rama: remind him of the reed blade (ishika) thrown in anger at the crow, which destroyed one of its eyes.

हे वानरश्रेष्ठ! तुम राम को पहचान (अभिज्ञान) के रूप में यह बात बताना— कि किस प्रकार उन्होंने क्रोधित होकर एक सींक (इषीका) चलाकर कौवे की एक आँख फोड़ दी थी।
English Commentary
Sita provides a verbal token of recognition (abhijñānaṃ)—the intimate story of the crow (Kakasura) at Chitrakuta. This incident, where Indra's son Jayanta in the guise of a crow pecked at Sita, serves two purposes. First, being a private memory shared only between the couple, it authentically validates Hanuman's return message. Second, and more subtly, it acts as a rhetorical challenge to Rama. By recalling how Rama unleashed the power of a Brahmastra through a mere reed (iṣīkā) against a crow for a minor offense, she implicitly questions why he is now silent against Ravana who has committed a far greater crime. It is a call to action, invoking his past protectiveness to spur him into present battle.

यहाँ सीता जी 'काकासुर' के प्रसंग का उल्लेख करती हैं जो चित्रकूट में घटित हुआ था। यह घटना अत्यंत निजी और गोपनीय थी, जिसे केवल राम और सीता जानते थे। इसलिए यह एक सशक्त 'अभिज्ञान' (पहचान का चिन्ह) है। 'हरिगणोत्तम' सम्बोधन हनुमान जी के प्रति आदर सूचक है। इस प्रसंग में, इंद्र के पुत्र जयंत ने कौवे का रूप धरकर सीता जी को कष्ट दिया था, जिस पर राम ने ब्रह्मास्त्र से अभिमंत्रित एक तिनका (इषीका) उस पर चलाया था। सीता जी इस घटना का स्मरण कराकर न केवल अपनी पहचान सिद्ध कर रही हैं, बल्कि परोक्ष रूप से राम को उलाहना भी दे रही हैं कि एक कौवे के लिए उन्होंने ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रयोग किया, तो अब रावण जैसे महाशत्रु के प्रति वे उदासीन क्यों हैं? यह प्रेम और व्यथा मिश्रित सन्देश है।
