Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एष निर्यातितः श्रीमान् मया ते वारिसम्भवः ।
अतः परं न शक्ष्यामि जीवितुं शोकलालसा ।

eṣa niryātitaḥ śrīmān mayā te vārisambhavaḥ |
ataḥ paraṃ na śakṣyāmi jīvituṃ śokalālasā ॥5-40-8॥
Translation
This beautiful water-born jewel is herewith surrendered by me to you. Beyond this, engulfed in grief, I shall not be able to survive.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह जल से उत्पन्न (वारिसम्भवः) शोभायमान मणि मैं तुम्हें सौंप रही हूँ। इसके जाने के बाद अब मैं शोक में डूबी हुई जीवित नहीं रह सकूँगी।
English Commentary
Sita hands over the jewel, described as vārisambhavaḥ (born of water, likely indicating pearls or sea-gems). The act of giving it away is sacrificial; she is parting with her emotional anchor. Consequently, she states she cannot live much longer after this. This creates a deadline and intensifies the dramatic tension. The jewel was her connection to the past and Rama; without it, she is left only with her grief (śokalālasā). This statement compels Hanuman to understand that the mission is not just about information transfer but is a race against time to save her life.

सीता जी मणि हनुमान को सौंपती हैं। इसे 'वारिसम्भवः' (जल से उत्पन्न) कहा गया है, जो इसके मोती या समुद्री रत्न होने का संकेत देता है। मणि देने के साथ ही सीता जी की निराशा पुनः उभर आती है। वे कहती हैं कि यह मणि ही उनके जीवन का आधार थी क्योंकि यह राम की स्मृति थी। अब जब यह भी जा रही है, तो वे 'अतः परं' (इसके बाद) जीवित रहने में समर्थ नहीं होंगी। यह वाक्य हनुमान जी पर दायित्व का भारी बोझ डालता है कि वे राम को लेकर शीघ्र लौटें, अन्यथा सीता जी प्राण त्याग देंगी। 'शोकलालसा' उनकी गहन मानसिक पीड़ा को व्यक्त करता है।
