ततस्तु हनुमान् वीरो बभञ्च प्रमदावनम् ।
मत्तद्विजसमाघुष्टं नानाद्रुमलतायुतम् ।
।
॥५-४१-१५॥
Tatastu hanumān vīro babhañca pramadāvanam |
Mattadvijasamāghuṣṭaṃ nānādrumalatāyutam ॥5-41-15॥
Translation
Then, the heroic Hanuman destroyed that Pramadavana (pleasure garden), which was filled with the sounds of intoxicated birds and adorned with various trees and creepers.

इसके बाद वीर हनुमान ने उस प्रमदावन (अशोक वाटिका) को तहस-नहस कर दिया, जो मतवाले पक्षियों के कलरव से गूँज रहा था और विभिन्न प्रकार के वृक्षों तथा लताओं से युक्त था।
English Commentary
The term Pramadavana refers to the royal pleasure grove, a sanctuary of beauty and sensory indulgence meant for the women of the palace. By destroying this specific location, characterized by the sweet sounds of birds and lush flora, Hanuman is shattering the illusion of peace and luxury in Ravana's kingdom. The juxtaposition of the serene, chirping birds (mattadvijasamāghuṣṭaṃ) with the violent act of breaking (babhañca) highlights the abrupt transition from tranquility to chaos. It is a symbolic act of disrupting the decadent peace of the oppressor.

'प्रमदावन' का अर्थ है वह वन जो रानियों और अंतःपुर की स्त्रियों के आमोद-प्रमोद के लिए हो। ऐसे सुंदर और सुरक्षित स्थान का विध्वंस रावण के अहंकार पर सीधा प्रहार है। श्लोक में विरोधाभास अलंकार का सुंदर प्रयोग है—एक ओर पक्षियों का मधुर कलरव और लताओं का सौंदर्य है, और दूसरी ओर हनुमान जी का विध्वंसक रूप। 'बभञ्च' (तोड़ दिया) क्रिया की कठोरता वन की कोमलता के विपरीत है। यह दर्शाता है कि अधर्म के आश्रय में स्थित सौंदर्य भी वीरों के कोप का भाजन बनता है।
