इहैव तावत् कृतनिश्चयो ह्याहं यदि व्रजेयं प्लवगेश्वरालयम् ।
परात्मसंमर्दविशेषतत्त्ववित् ततः कृतं स्यान्मम भर्तृशासनम् ।

ihaiva tāvat kṛtaniścayo hyāhaṃ yadi vrajeyaṃ plavageśvarālayam |
parātmasammardaviśeṣatattvavit tataḥ kṛtaṃ syānmama bhartṛśāsanam ॥5-41-7॥
Translation
If I return to the abode of the Lord of Monkeys only after ascertaining the specific truth of the conflict between the enemy and myself, and having decided on the future course here itself, then the command of my master will have been truly executed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि मैं शत्रु और अपने पक्ष के संघर्ष (युद्ध) के विशेष तत्व को जानकर, यहीं (लंका में) भविष्य का निश्चय करके वानरराज (सुग्रीव) के पास जाऊँ, तभी मेरे द्वारा स्वामी की आज्ञा का (पूर्ण) पालन माना जाएगा।
English Commentary
Hanuman sets a high bar for his mission's completion. He decides he cannot return to Sugriva (plavageśvarālayam) without becoming a tattvavit (knower of the essence) of the parātmasammarda (the clash between the enemy and the self). He needs to gauge the relative strengths of the Rakshasas against his own prowess to predict the outcome of the future war. By stress-testing the enemy defenses now, he gathers critical intelligence that will inform the war strategy. Only with this comprehensive data does he feel he will have truly fulfilled his master's command (bhartṛśāsanam).

हनुमान जी का मानना है कि केवल सूचना लेकर लौटना अपर्याप्त है। उन्हें 'परात्मसंमर्दविशेषतत्त्ववित' बनना है—अर्थात 'पर' (शत्रु) और 'आत्म' (स्वयं/वानर सेना) के बीच होने वाले 'संमर्द' (संघर्ष/टकराव) के परिणाम को तात्विक रूप से जानने वाला। वे यह परखना चाहते हैं कि क्या वानर सेना वास्तव में राक्षसों का सामना कर पाएगी? यह परीक्षण वे स्वयं रावण की सेना से भिड़कर करना चाहते हैं। जब वे इस ज्ञान के साथ लौटेंगे, तभी सुग्रीव और राम की आज्ञा ('भर्तृशासनम्') का सच्चा पालन होगा। यह 'प्रोएक्टिव' (Proactive) दृष्टिकोण है।
