न च तं जानकी सीता हरिं हरिणलोचना ।
अस्माभिर्बहुधा पृष्टा निवेदयितुमिच्छिति ।

Na ca taṃ jānakī sītā hariṃ hariṇalocanā |
Asmābhirbahudhā pṛṣṭā nivedayitumicchiti ॥5-42-14॥
Translation
"And despite being questioned by us in many ways, the doe-eyed Sita, daughter of Janaka, does not wish to disclose (the identity of) that Monkey."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हमारे द्वारा बहुत प्रकार से पूछे जाने पर भी, मृगनयनी जानकी सीता उस वानर का परिचय देने की इच्छा नहीं करतीं (बता नहीं रही हैं)।"
English Commentary
The guards admit their failure to extract intelligence, attributing it to Sita's refusal to cooperate. By stating that she "does not wish to disclose" (nivedayitum na icchati) despite interrogation, they insinuate a conspiracy or protection. The poetic juxtaposition of Hari (monkey) and Hariṇalocanā (doe-eyed Sita) serves a distinct contrast—the gentle captive protecting the fierce intruder. This compels Ravana to take direct action, setting the stage for the dispatching of his warriors.

राक्षसियाँ अपनी असफलता को सीता जी के असहयोग पर थोप रही हैं। वे रावण को बताती हैं कि सीता, जो 'हरिणलोचना' (मृग के समान नेत्रों वाली) हैं, उस 'हरिम्' (वानर) के बारे में कुछ नहीं बता रहीं। यहाँ 'हरि' (वानर) और 'हरिण' (मृग) का शाब्दिक साम्य सुंदर है। यह शिकायत रावण के मन में सीता के प्रति संदेह और वानर के प्रति क्रोध को और अधिक भड़काने का कार्य करती है। यह रावण को स्वयं हस्तक्षेप करने के लिए प्रेरित करने वाला कथन है।
