आत्मनः सदृशाञ्छूरान् किङ्करान्नाम राक्षसान् ।
व्यादिदेश महातेजा निग्रहार्थं हनूमतः ।

Ātmanaḥ sadṛśāñchūrān kiṅkarānnāma rākṣasān |
Vyādideśa mahātejā nigrahārthaṃ hanūmataḥ ॥5-42-24॥
Translation
The one of great splendor (Ravana) ordered the heroic Rakshasas named Kinkaras, who were equal to himself in valor, for the capture of Hanuman.

महातेजस्वी रावण ने हनुमान को पकड़ने (निग्रह) के लिए 'किंकर' नामक शूरवीर राक्षसों को आदेश दिया, जो पराक्रम में स्वयं उसके (रावण के) समान थे।
English Commentary
Recognizing the threat, Ravana dispatches his elite guard, the Kinkaras. The description ātmanaḥ sadṛśān (equal to himself) highlights the high regard Ravana has for their martial prowess. This is the first wave of the military response. The term nigrahārtham (for the purpose of capturing/restraining) indicates that Ravana wants Hanuman taken alive initially, likely to interrogate him regarding his master and mission, as suggested by the guards' speculation in Verse 15.

रावण ने शत्रु को हल्के में नहीं लिया। उसने सामान्य सैनिकों को नहीं, बल्कि 'किंकर' नामक विशेष दस्ते को भेजा। 'आत्मनः सदृशान्' (स्वयं के समान) विशेषण का प्रयोग संभवतः अतिशयोक्ति है जो यह दिखाने के लिए है कि वे अत्यंत शक्तिशाली थे और रावण को उन पर पूर्ण विश्वास था। 'निग्रहार्थं' का अर्थ है 'पकड़ने के लिए'। रावण अभी वध नहीं, बल्कि हनुमान को बंदी बनाना चाहता है, शायद यह जानने के लिए कि वह किसका दूत है।
