ततस्तस्माद्भयान्मुक्ताः कतिचित्तत्र राक्षसाः ।
निहतान् किङ्करान् सर्वान् रावणाय न्यवेदयन् ।
।
॥५-४२-४२॥
Tatastasmādbhayānmuktāḥ katicittatra rākṣasāḥ । Nihatān kiṅkarān sarvān rāvaṇāya nyavedayan । । ॥5-42-42॥
Translation
Then, a few Rakshasas who had escaped from that terror reported to Ravana that all the Kinkaras had been slain.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उस भय (मृत्यु) से बचे हुए कुछ राक्षसों ने जाकर रावण को सूचित किया कि सभी किंकर मारे गए हैं।
English Commentary
The narrative shifts briefly to the survivors. The survival of a few (katicit) serves a narrative function: someone must carry the tale of horror to Ravana to escalate the conflict. The phrase bhayānmuktāḥ implies they didn't just escape a fight; they escaped sheer terror. Their report is blunt and total: sarvān (all) the Kinkaras are dead. This sets up the dramatic tension for Ravana's reaction, as the loss of such a large elite force (Kinkaras) to a single entity is unprecedented.

अस्सी हजार की सेना में से केवल 'कतिचित्' (कुछ ही) जीवित बचे। यह हनुमान जी के पराक्रम की व्यापकता को दर्शाता है। 'भयान्मुक्ताः' का अर्थ है जो किसी तरह उस भयावह मृत्यु के मुख से बच निकले। उन्होंने रावण को जो समाचार दिया, वह अविश्वसनीय था—'निहतान्... सर्वान्' (सारे मारे गए)। यह समाचार लंका के दरबार में हड़कंप मचाने वाला था। यह श्लोक कथा के प्रवाह को युद्धभूमि से राजसभा (रावण के दरबार) की ओर ले जाता है, जहाँ अब रावण की प्रतिक्रिया देखी जाएगी।
