स राक्षसानां निहतं महद्बलं निशम्य राजा परिवृत्तलोचनः ।
समादिदेशाप्रतिमं पराक्रमे प्रहस्त पुत्रं समरे सुदुर्जयम् ।

Sa rākṣasānāṃ nihataṃ mahadbalaṃ niśamya rājā parivṛttalocanaḥ । Samādideśāpratimaṃ parākrame prahasta putraṃ samare sudurjayam । । ॥5-42-43॥
Translation
Hearing that the great army of Rakshasas had been slain, the King (Ravana), rolling his eyes in anger, ordered the son of Prahasta (Jambumali), who was matchless in valor and unconquerable in battle, to go.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राक्षसों की उस विशाल सेना को मारा गया सुनकर, राजा (रावण) ने क्रोध से अपनी आँखें घुमाईं और पराक्रम में अनुपम तथा युद्ध में अत्यंत दुर्जय, प्रहस्त के पुत्र (जम्बुमाली) को आदेश दिया।
English Commentary
Ravana’s physical reaction, parivṛttalocanaḥ (rolling his eyes), signifies a mix of fury and shock. The destruction of the Kinkaras forces him to escalate his response immediately. He selects Jambumali, the son of his chief commander Prahasta. The text piles adjectives on Jambumali: apratimaṃ (incomparable in valor) and sudurjayam (very difficult to conquer). This marks the transition from sending foot soldiers to sending elite commanders. It validates Hanuman's strategy: the more destruction he causes, the higher the caliber of opponent he draws out, slowly chipping away at the core leadership of Lanka.

रावण की प्रतिक्रिया यहाँ दर्शनीय है—'परिवृत्तलोचनः' (आँखें घुमाना/फिरना)। यह क्रोध और अविश्वास का मिश्रण है। रावण एक कुशल प्रशासक भी है, इसलिए उसने स्थिति की गंभीरता को समझा और साधारण सैनिकों के बजाय अब एक सेनापति स्तर के योद्धा को चुना। उसने 'प्रहस्त पुत्र' (जम्बुमाली) को भेजा। प्रहस्त रावण का मुख्य सेनापति है, अतः उसका पुत्र लंका के सर्वश्रेष्ठ योद्धाओं में से एक है। विशेषण 'अप्रतिमं पराक्रमे' (पराक्रम में बेजोड़) और 'सुदुर्जयम्' (जिसे जीतना बहुत कठिन है) यह बताते हैं कि रावण ने अब इस वानर को हल्के में लेना छोड़ दिया है।
