तेन शब्देन महता चैत्यपालाः शतं ययुः ।
गृहीत्वा विविधानस्त्रान् प्रासान् खड्गान् परश्वधान् ।
विसृजन्तो महाकाया मारुतिं पर्यवारयन् ।

Tena śabdena mahatā caityapālāḥ śataṃ yayuḥ । Gṛhītvā vividhānastrān prāsān khaḍgān paraśvadhān । Visṛjanto mahākāyā mārutiṃ paryavārayan । 。 ॥5-43-12॥
Translation
Upon hearing that great sound, a hundred guards of the sanctuary rushed there. Grasping various weapons like darts, swords, and axes, those huge-bodied demons surrounded Hanuman while launching attacks.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस महान शब्द को सुनकर सौ चैत्यपाल (मंदिर रक्षक) वहाँ आ पहुँचे। वे विशालकाय राक्षस नाना प्रकार के अस्त्र, प्रास, तलवार और फरसे लेकर प्रहार करते हुए हनुमान को घेरने लगे।
English Commentary
The provocation works. A specific unit, the Chaityapālāḥ (Guardians of the Shrine), numbering one hundred (śataṃ), responds. Unlike the chaotic rush of the Kinkaras, these guards seem more regimented, armed with close-quarters weapons like axes (paraśvadhān) and swords (khaḍgān). The text notes they are mahākāyā (huge-bodied), emphasizing that Hanuman is facing heavy infantry. They surround him (paryavārayan), attempting to cut off his escape from the tower.

हनुमान जी की गर्जना सुनकर 'चैत्यपालाः' (चैत्य के रक्षक) सक्रिय हो गए। यहाँ उनकी संख्या 'शतं' (सौ) बताई गई है। ये साधारण सैनिक नहीं, बल्कि मंदिर के विशेष सुरक्षाकर्मी हैं, इसलिए उन्हें 'महाकाया' (विसाल शरीर वाले) कहा गया है। उनके हथियारों में प्रास (भाले), खड्ग (तलवार) और परश्वध (फरसे) प्रमुख हैं। 'पर्यवारयन्' (घेर लिया) शब्द बताता है कि वे सुनियोजित ढंग से आक्रमण कर रहे थे। एक अकेले वानर के विरुद्ध सौ सशस्त्र महाकाय राक्षस—यह दृश्य हनुमान के पराक्रम की पृष्ठभूमि तैयार करता है।
