सन्दिष्टो राक्षसेन्द्रेण प्रहस्तस्य सुतो बली ।
जम्बुमाली महादंष्ट्रो निर्जगाम धनुर्धरः ।

Sandiṣṭo rākṣasendreṇa Prahastasya suto balī . Jambumālī mahādaṃṣṭro nirjagāma dhanurdharaḥ .. ॥5-44-1॥
Translation
Commanded by the King of Rakshasas, the mighty son of Prahasta, the large-fanged archer Jambumali, set out.

राक्षसराज रावण के आदेश पाकर, प्रहस्त का बलवान पुत्र, बड़ी-बड़ी दाढ़ों वाला धनुर्धारी जम्बुमाली (युद्ध के लिए) निकला।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of a new encounter (Sarga). Following the defeat of the Kinkaras, Ravana escalates the response by deploying Jambumali. The patronymic 'son of Prahasta' is significant; Prahasta is Ravana's commander-in-chief, implying Jambumali is of elite martial pedigree. The descriptors emphasize his ferocity (mahādaṃṣṭro - large fanged) and his combat specialization (dhanurdharaḥ - archer). Unlike the previous mass of soldiers who attacked with brute force, Jambumali represents a disciplined, armed response authorized directly by the King (Rākṣasendreṇa), signaling a shift from chaotic skirmish to formal duel.

किंकरों के विनाश के बाद, रावण अब स्थिति को अधिक गंभीरता से ले रहा है। यहाँ 'प्रहस्तस्य सुतो' का उल्लेख महत्वपूर्ण है; प्रहस्त रावण का सेनापति है, अतः उसका पुत्र एक उच्च कोटि का योद्धा है। 'सन्दिष्टो' (आदिष्ट होकर) शब्द दिखाता है कि रावण स्वयं इस अभियान का निर्देशन कर रहा है। जम्बुमाली के विशेषण—'बली' (बलवान), 'महादंष्ट्रो' (बड़ी दाढ़ों वाला), और 'धनुर्धरः' (धनुष धारण करने वाला)—उसकी उग्रता और युद्ध कौशल को दर्शाते हैं। यह श्लोक संघर्ष के नए चरण का आरंभ है, जहाँ अब हनुमान जी का सामना सामान्य सैनिकों के बजाय विशिष्ट महारथियों से होगा।
