भ्रामयन्तं कपिं दृष्ट्वा सालवृक्षं महाबलम् ।
चिक्षेप सुबहून् बाणान् जम्बुमाली महाबलः ।

Bhrāmayantaṃ kapiṃ dṛṣṭvā sālavṛkṣaṃ mahābalam . Cikṣepa subahūn bāṇān Jambumālī mahābalaḥ .. ॥5-44-13॥
Translation
Seeing the mighty monkey spinning the Sala tree, the mighty Jambumali discharged many arrows.

महाबली हनुमान को साल वृक्ष घुमाते हुए देखकर, महाबली जम्बुमाली ने उन पर बहुत से बाण छोड़े।
English Commentary
The repetition of mahābala (mighty/great strength) for both combatants highlights the parity of the duel. Jambumali reacts instinctively to the threat of the spinning tree. Instead of fleeing or shielding, he launches a preemptive barrage of "many arrows" (subahūn bāṇān). This indicates his combat experience; he attempts to overwhelm Hanuman with volume of fire to neutralize the threat of the tree before it can be deployed effectively.

यहाँ दोनों योद्धाओं के लिए 'महाबलम्' और 'महाबलः' विशेषणों का प्रयोग किया गया है, जो यह दर्शाता है कि यह बराबरी की टक्कर है। जम्बुमाली हनुमान जी को वृक्ष घुमाते देखकर समझ गया कि बड़ा प्रहार आने वाला है, इसलिए उसने रक्षात्मक कार्रवाई करने के बजाय आक्रामक रवैया अपनाया और 'सुबहून् बाणान्' (अनेकों बाण) एक साथ छोड़ दिए। उसका उद्देश्य हनुमान जी को वृक्ष फेंकने या प्रहार करने से पहले ही रोकना (suppressing fire) था।
