तप्तकाञ्चनचित्राणि चापान्यमितविक्रमाः ।
विस्फारयन्तः संहृष्टास्तडित्वन्त इवाम्बुदाः ।

Taptakāñcanacitrāṇi cāpānyamitavikramāḥ . Visphārayantaḥ saṃhṛṣṭāstaḍitvanta ivāmbudāḥ .. ॥5-45-4॥
Translation
Those warriors of immeasurable prowess, joyfully twanging their bows inlaid with refined gold, looked like clouds accompanied by lightning.

अमित पराक्रमी वे राक्षस तपे हुए सोने से विचित्र (जड़े हुए) धनुषों को टंकारते हुए ऐसे हर्षित हो रहे थे, मानो बिजली से युक्त बादल हों।
English Commentary
The metaphor of the storm continues. The warriors are the clouds (ambudāḥ), and their gold-inlaid bows (taptakāñcanacitrāṇi cāpāni) flash like lightning (taḍitvanta). The act of twanging the bows adds the element of thunder. This imagery suggests that their attack will be a torrential downpour of arrows. Their mood—saṃhṛṣṭāḥ (delighted/joyful)—contrasts sharply with the deadly nature of their mission, highlighting the warrior ethos where battle is seen as a joyous occasion for displaying valor.
