Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तैः पञ्चभिराविद्धः शरैः शिरसि वानरः ।
उत्पपात नदन् व्योम्नि दिशो दश विनादयन् ।
।
॥५-४६-२१॥
Sa taiḥ pañcabhirāviddhaḥ śaraiḥ śirasi vānaraḥ । Utpapāta nadan vyomni diśo daśa vinādayan । । ॥5-46-21॥
Translation
Pierced in the head by those five arrows, the Vanara roared, making the ten directions resonate, and leapt into the sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सिर में उन पाँच बाणों से बिंधे हुए वानर (हनुमान) ने दसों दिशाओं को गुंजाते हुए गर्जना की और आकाश में उछल गए।
English Commentary
Instead of succumbing to a head injury that would kill a normal being, Hanuman reacts with increased aggression. The phrase aviddhah means pierced or wounded, confirming the arrows found their mark. However, his response is to roar and take flight (utpapata). By ascending to the sky (vyomni), Hanuman effectively changes the dimension of the battle from ground-to-air to air-to-air combat. His roar, filling the ten directions, serves to intimidate the attackers and signal that he is far from defeated.

सिर पर पाँच लोहे के बाण लगने के बाद भी हनुमान जी विचलित नहीं हुए, न ही गिरे। इसके विपरीत, उन्होंने 'नदन्' (गर्जना करते हुए) आकाश में छलांग लगाई। यह उनकी सहनशक्ति और अदम्य साहस का परिचय है। बाणों की पीड़ा ने उनके क्रोध और उत्साह को और बढ़ा दिया। 'दिशो दश विनादयन्'—उनकी गर्जना इतनी तीव्र थी कि दसों दिशाएँ गूँज उठीं। उन्होंने आकाश को अपनी युद्धभूमि चुना क्योंकि वहाँ उन्हें अपनी गति (वायु-वेग) का पूरा लाभ मिल सकता था। यह एक रणनीतिक निर्णय था ताकि वे घेराबंदी से ऊपर उठ सकें।
