ततस्तेष्ववसन्नेषु सेनापतिषु पञ्चसु ।
बलं तदवशेषं च नाशयास वानरः ।

Tatasteṣvavasanneṣu senāpatiṣu pañcasu । Balaṃ tadavaśeṣaṃ ca nāśayāsa vānaraḥ । । 5.46.36।। ॥5-46-36॥
Translation
Then, when those five generals were destroyed, the monkey destroyed the remaining army as well.

तदनन्तर उन पाँचों सेनापतियों के मारे जाने पर, उस वानर ने शेष बची हुई सेना का भी नाश कर दिया।
English Commentary
Following the decapitation of the enemy leadership—the death of the five generals—the hierarchy of the Rakshasa army collapses. However, Hanuman does not stop at the leaders. This verse describes the 'mopping up' operation where he proceeds to annihilate the remaining forces (balam tadavasheṣam). It signifies total warfare; Hanuman intends to leave no remnant of the force sent against him, serving as a stern warning to Ravana that neither elite commanders nor massed infantry can stand against him.

पाँचों सेनानायकों (विरूपाक्ष, यूपक्ष, दुर्धर, प्रघस और भासकर्ण) का अंत ہونے के बाद, नेतृत्वविहीन सेना का मनोबल टूट गया। 'अवसन्नेषु' (नष्ट हो जाने पर) शब्द मुख्य स्तंभों के ढह जाने का संकेत देता है। हनुमान जी ने केवल नायकों को मारकर विश्राम नहीं किया, अपितु 'बलं तदवशेषं' (बची हुई सेना) का भी संहार किया। यह श्लोक हनुमान जी के 'अरिदमन' (शत्रु नाशक) रूप को पुष्ट करता है—वे शत्रु के किसी भी अंश को छोड़ना नहीं चाहते थे ताकि लंका का अहंकार पूरी तरह चूर हो सके।
