हतैर्नागैश्च तुरगैर्भग्नाक्षैश्च महारथैः ।
हतैश्च राक्षसैर्भूमी रुद्धमार्गा समन्ततः ।

Hatairnāgaiśca turagairbhagnākṣaiśca mahārathaiḥ । Hataiśca rākṣasairbhūmī ruddhamārgā samantataḥ । । 5.46.38।। ॥5-46-38॥
Translation
The earth was covered and the paths were blocked on all sides by slain elephants and horses, by great chariots with broken axles, and by killed Rakshasas.

मारे गए हाथियों और घोड़ों से, टूटे हुए धुरों वाले विशाल रथों से और मरे हुए राक्षसों से पृथ्वी भर गई और सब ओर के मार्ग अवरुद्ध हो गए।
English Commentary
This verse paints a grim tableau of the aftermath. The battlefield is so cluttered with debris—carcasses of elephants and horses, shattered chariots with broken axles (bhagnākṣai), and bodies of Rakshasas—that the very ground is concealed and paths are blocked (ruddhamārgā). This imagery emphasizes the totality of the defeat inflicted upon Ravana's forces. It serves as a visual testament to the carnage, reinforcing the futility of the Rakshasas' attempts to capture the monkey.

युद्ध के पश्चात रणभूमि की वीभत्सता और विनाश की व्यापकता का चित्र यहाँ खींचा गया है। पृथ्वी शवों और मलबे से पट गई है। 'भग्नाक्षैश्च महारथैः' (टूटे हुए धुरे वाले रथ) यह बताते हैं कि हनुमान जी ने शत्रु के वाहनों को पूरी तरह निष्क्रिय कर दिया था। 'रुद्धमार्गा' (रास्ते रुक गए) वाक्यांश विनाश के परिमाण को दर्शाता है—इतनी भारी संख्या में संहार हुआ कि चलने के लिए भी स्थान शेष नहीं रहा। यह दृश्य लंका के विनाश का पूर्वाभ्यास प्रतीत होता है।
