सेनापतीन् पञ्च स तु प्रमापितान् हनूमता सानुचरान् सवाहनान् ।
समीक्ष्य राजा समरोद्धतोन्मुखं कुमारमक्षं प्रसमैक्षताग्रतः ।

Senāpatīn pañca sa tu pramāpitān hanūmatā sānucarān savāhanān । Samīkṣya rājā samaroddhatonmukhaṃ kumāramakṣaṃ prsamaikṣatāgrataḥ । । 5.47.1।। ॥5-47-1॥
Translation
Observing that the five generals, along with their followers and vehicles, had been destroyed by Hanuman, the King (Ravana) looked intently at Prince Aksha, who was eager for battle, sitting before him.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पाँचों सेनापतियों को अनुचरों और वाहनों सहित हनुमान द्वारा मारा गया देखकर, राजा (रावण) ने अपने सामने बैठे, युद्ध के लिए उत्सृक कुमार अक्ष (अक्षकुमार) की ओर देखा।
English Commentary
Opening the 47th Sarga, the narrative shifts to Ravana's court. Realizing the gravity of the situation with the loss of five top generals, Ravana turns to his own bloodline. He fixes his gaze on Prince Aksha (Akshakumara). The description of Aksha as samaroddhatonmukham (looking up/eager for the arrogance of battle) characterizes him as a young, fiery warrior unphased by the reports of defeat. Ravana’s glance acts as a silent command, entrusting the defense of Lanka's honor to his son, escalating the conflict from generals to royalty.

यहाँ से 47वें सर्ग का प्रारंभ होता है। रावण की मानसिक स्थिति और रणनीति में परिवर्तन दिखाई देता है। अपने श्रेष्ठ योद्धाओं की मृत्यु के बाद, रावण अब अपने पुत्र अक्षकुमार की ओर देखता है। 'समरोद्धतोन्मुखं' शब्द अक्षकुमार की मानसिकता का परिचायक है—वह भयभीत नहीं है, बल्कि युद्ध के लिए उतावला और उत्साह से भरा है। रावण की दृष्टि ('प्रसमैक्षत') ही आदेश है। यह पिता और पुत्र के बीच का मूक संवाद है, जहाँ पिता को पुत्र के पराक्रम पर विश्वास है और पुत्र अपना शौर्य सिद्ध करने को आतुर है।
