Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स पूरयन् खं च महीं च साचलां तुरङ्गमातङ्गमहारथस्वनैः ।
बलैः समेतैः स हि तोरणस्थितं समर्थमासीनमुपागमत् कपिम् ।

५.४७.७।। ॥५-४७-७॥
Sa pūrayan khaṃ ca mahīṃ ca sācalāṃ turaṅgamātaṅgamahārathasvanaiḥ. Balaiḥ sametaiḥ sa hi toraṇasthitaṃ samarthamāsīnamupāgamat kapim. ॥5-47-7॥
Translation
Filling the sky, the earth, and the mountains with the sounds of horses, elephants, and great chariots, accompanied by his troops, he approached the capable Monkey (Hanuman) who was sitting on the archway.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह (अक्षकुमार) अपनी विशाल सेना के साथ, घोड़ों, हाथियों और महारथों के शब्दों से आकाश, पृथ्वी और पर्वतों को गुंजाता हुआ, तोरण पर बैठे हुए उस समर्थ वानर (हनुमान) के पास पहुँचा।
English Commentary
This verse creates an auditory landscape of the battlefield. The cacophony of horses, elephants, and chariot wheels fills the cosmos, signifying the overwhelming force of the Rakshasa army. In stark contrast to this noisy approach is Hanuman, described simply as Samartham (capable/powerful) and sitting on the archway (Toraṇasthitaṃ). This juxtaposition sets the stage: the chaotic, aggressive noise of the demons versus the calm, solitary, yet potent composure of Hanuman waiting at the gate.

यहाँ वातावरण में व्याप्त ध्वनि और कोलाहल का चित्रण है। चतुरंगिणी सेना के चलने से जो नाद उत्पन्न हुआ, उसने तीनों लोकों (आकाश, पृथ्वी, पर्वत) को भर दिया। यह अक्षकुमार के आत्मविश्वास और शक्ति प्रदर्शन का प्रतीक है। दूसरी ओर, हनुमान जी का चित्रण 'तोरणस्थितं' (तोरण पर बैठे हुए) और 'समर्थम्' (सामर्थ्यवान) के रूप में किया गया है। जहाँ एक ओर विशाल सेना और शोर है, वहीं दूसरी ओर हनुमान जी की स्थिर, एकाकी और निर्भीक उपस्थिति है। यह दृश्य आगामी द्वंद्व की तीव्रता को बढ़ाता है।
