स तं समासाद्य हरिं हरीक्षणो युगान्तकालाग्निमिव प्रजाक्षये ।
अवस्थितं विस्मितजातसंभ्रमः समैक्षताक्षो बहुमानचक्षुषा ।

Sa taṃ samāsādya hariṃ harīkṣaṇo yugāntakālāgnimiva prajākṣaye. Avasthitaṃ vismitajātasambhramaḥ samaikṣatākṣo bahumānacakṣuṣā. ॥5-47-8॥
Translation
Approaching that monkey, Aksha, who possessed lion-like eyes, gazed with eyes full of great respect and astonishment at him (Hanuman), who stood ready like the fire of the end of time intent on destroying creatures.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सिंह के समान नेत्रों वाले उस अक्षकुमार ने उस वानर के पास पहुंचकर, जो प्रलयकाल की अग्नि के समान स्थित था, विस्मय और आदरपूर्ण नेत्रों से उसे देखा।
English Commentary
This captures a rare moment of warrior ethos. Aksha, described as Harīkṣaṇaḥ (lion-eyed), assesses his enemy not with mere disdain, but with Bahumānacakṣuṣā—an eye of great regard or respect. He sees Hanuman as Yugāntakālāgnim (the fire at the end of the eon). This acknowledges Hanuman's terrifying power. The blend of Vismita (amazement) and Sambhrama (flurry/awe) indicates that Aksha realizes this is no ordinary beast, but a cataclysmic force. It elevates Aksha's character; he is perceptive enough to recognize true power when he sees it.

यह श्लोक मनोवैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। अक्षकुमार 'हरीक्षण' (सिंह जैसी आँखों वाला) है, फिर भी वह हनुमान को देखकर केवल क्रोधित नहीं होता, बल्कि 'विस्मितजातसंभ्रमः' (विस्मय और घबराहट से युक्त) हो जाता है। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण वाक्यांश है 'बहुमानचक्षुषा'—अर्थात् उसने हनुमान को बड़े आदर की दृष्टि से देखा। एक योद्धा दूसरे योद्धा के तेज और शक्ति को पहचान लेता है। हनुमान प्रलयग्नि के समान प्रतीत हो रहे थे। अक्षकुमार ने शत्रु में भी दिव्यता और अपार शक्ति के दर्शन किए, जो उसकी योद्धा-सुलभ दृष्टि का परिचायक है।
