तस्मिंस्ततः संयति जातहर्षे रणाय निर्गच्छति बाणपाणौ ।
दिशश्च सर्वाः बभूवर्मृगाश्च रौद्रा बहुधा विनेदुः ।

tasmiṃstataḥ saṃyati jātaharṣe raṇāya nirgacchati bāṇapāṇau |
diśaśca sarvāḥ babhūvarmṛgāśca raudrā bahudhā vineduḥ ॥5-48-23॥
Translation
As he went forth for battle with arrows in hand, filled with the excitement of war, all the directions became (dark/confused) and fierce beasts howled in various ways.
हिंदी अनुवाद
जब वह बाण हाथ में लिए, युद्ध के उत्साह से भरकर रणभूमि में निकला, तब सभी दिशाएं (धुंधली/अंधकारमय) हो गईं और हिंसक पशु अनेक प्रकार से भयानक शब्द करने लगे।
English Commentary
The atmosphere turns ominous as Indrajit enters the fray. Nature reacts to his terrifying presence and the impending violence. The directions losing clarity and fierce beasts howling ('raudra vineduh') are classical literary devices used to portend doom or a cataclysmic event. While Indrajit himself is happy ('jataharshe') and eager to fight, the world around him shudders. These omens could signify the impending capture of Hanuman, or foreshadow the eventual fall of Indrajit and Lanka, adding a layer of cosmic dread to the narrative.

यह श्लोक अपशकुनों (Omens) का वर्णन करता है। जब इंद्रजीत जैसा महायोद्धा, जिसके भाग्य में अब मृत्यु या विनाश लिखा हो सकता है (या जो घोर विनाश करने वाला है), निकलता है, तो प्रकृति भी प्रतिक्रिया देती है। दिशाओं का रंग बदलना और पशुओं का रोना ('रौद्रा विनेदुः') अमंगल का सूचक है। यह वातावरण की गंभीरता को बढ़ाता है। यद्यपि इंद्रजीत 'जातहर्षे' (हर्षित) है, परन्तु प्रकृति उदास और भयभीत है। यह विरोधाभास आने वाले महासंग्राम और संभावित अनिष्ट की पूर्वसूचना देता है।
