ततः पैतामहं वीरः सो ऽस्त्रमस्त्रविदां वरः ।
सन्दधे सुमहातेजास्तं हरिप्रवरं प्रति ।

tataḥ paitāmahaṃ vīraḥ so 'stramastravidāṃ varaḥ |
sandadhe sumahātejāstaṃ haripravaraṃ prati ॥ ॥5-48-37॥
Translation
Then, that hero, the best among knowers of astras, possessed of great splendor, fixed the 'Paitamaha Astra' (Weapon of Brahma) directed against that foremost of Monkeys.

तब अस्त्रवेत्ताओं में श्रेष्ठ, महातेजस्वी उस वीर (इंद्रजीत) ने उस वानर-श्रेष्ठ (हनुमान) के प्रति 'पैतामह अस्त्र' (ब्रह्मास्त्र) का संधान किया।
English Commentary
The nuclear option is deployed. Indrajit invokes the 'Paitamaha Astra' (Brahmastra), the supreme weapon of Lord Brahma. This confirms his diagnosis that Hanuman is beyond physical harm and requires a metaphysical solution. Indrajit is described as 'sumahatejas' (of great splendor) as he prepares to unleash this cosmic force. The use of the Brahmastra signifies respect for Hanuman's power—Indrajit acknowledges that nothing less than the power of the Creator can stop this monkey. The duel has moved from martial arts to divine intervention.

यह इस सर्ग का चरमोत्कर्ष (climax) है। इंद्रजीत अपना अंतिम और सबसे शक्तिशाली अस्त्र निकालता है—'पैतामहं अस्त्रम्' (पितामह ब्रह्मा का अस्त्र)। वह 'अस्त्रविदां वरः' है, वह जानता है कि ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रयोग कब और कैसे करना है। हनुमान 'हरिप्रवर' (वानरों में श्रेष्ठ) हैं, इसलिए उनके लिए श्रेष्ठतम अस्त्र की ही आवश्यकता है। यह अस्त्र अमोघ है और इसका कार्य शत्रु को बांधना है। इंद्रजीत ने समझदारी से काम लिया है—जहाँ बल काम नहीं आया, वहां अब वह दैवीय शक्ति का प्रयोग कर रहा है।
