तेन बद्धस्ततो ऽस्त्रेण राक्षसेन स वानरः ।
अभवन्निर्विचेष्टश्च पपात च महीतले ।

tena baddhastato 'streṇa rākṣasena sa vānaraḥ |
abhavannirviceṣṭaśca papāta ca mahītale ॥5-48-39॥
Translation
Then, bound by the Rakshasa with that weapon, that Vanara became motionless and fell upon the earth's surface.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उस राक्षस द्वारा उस अस्त्र से बाँधे जाने पर वह वानर (हनुमान) चेष्टारहित हो गया और पृथ्वी पर गिर पड़ा।
English Commentary
The effect of the Brahmastra was immediate and absolute. Hanuman, who had been agile and full of speed, became 'nirviceshta' (motionless) the moment he was bound. This fall does not signify defeat in the traditional sense, but rather the overwhelming power of the celestial weapon. Although physically immobilized and grounded, his consciousness remained active, preparing the reader for his internal monologue in the subsequent verses.

ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रभाव तत्काल और अचूक था। हनुमान जी, जो अब तक अत्यंत चपल और वेगवान थे, अस्त्र के बंधन में पड़ते ही 'निर्विचेष्ट' (गतिहीन) हो गए। यह गिरावट उनकी पराजय नहीं, बल्कि उस परम अस्त्र के प्रति उनकी विवशता और सम्मान को दर्शाती है। यद्यपि वे शारीरिक रूप से गिर पड़े, किन्तु उनकी चेतना अभी भी जागृत थी, जैसा कि अगले श्लोकों में स्पष्ट होगा।
