Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ग्रहणे चापि रक्षोभिर्महान् मे गुणदर्शनः ।
राक्षसेन्द्रेण संवादस्तस्मादगृह्णन्तु मां परे ।
।
॥५-४८-४५॥
grahaṇe cāpi rakṣobhirmahān me guṇadarśanaḥ |
rākṣasendreṇa saṃvādastasmādagṛhṇantu māṃ pare ॥5-48-45॥
Translation
"Even in being captured by the Rakshasas, I see a great advantage for myself. There will be a dialogue with the Lord of Rakshasas; therefore, let the enemies capture me."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"राक्षसों द्वारा पकड़े जाने में मुझे महान गुण (लाभ) दिखाई दे रहा है। (वह यह कि) राक्षसेन्द्र (रावण) के साथ संवाद होगा; इसलिए शत्रु मुझे पकड़ लें।"
English Commentary
Hanuman's diplomatic vision is revealed here. He finds opportunity within adversity. His primary objective is to meet Ravana and warn him to return Sita. By willingly accepting capture, he gains direct access to Ravana's court, a place otherwise difficult to infiltrate. He sacrifices the pride of a warrior to fulfill the duty of a messenger (Doot).

यहाँ हनुमान जी की कूटनीतिक दृष्टि (Diplomatic vision) प्रकट होती है। वे आपदा में भी अवसर ढूँढ लेते हैं। उनका मुख्य उद्देश्य रावण से मिलना और उसे सीता जी को लौटाने की चेतावनी देना है। स्वेच्छा से बंदी बनकर वे सीधे रावण के दरबार तक पहुँच सकते हैं, जहाँ सामान्य रूप से प्रवेश पाना कठिन होता। वे 'दूत' के कार्य के लिए 'योद्धा' के अभिमान का त्याग कर रहे हैं।
