स निश्चितार्थः परिवीरहन्ता समीक्ष्यकारी विनिवृत्तचेष्टः ।
परैः प्रसह्याभिगतैर्निगृह्य ननाद तैस्तैः परिभर्त्स्यमानः ।
।
॥५-४८-४६॥
sa niścitārthaḥ parivīrahantā samīkṣyakārī vinivṛttaceṣṭaḥ |
paraiḥ prasahyābhigatairnigṛhya nanāda taistaḥ paribhartsyamānaḥ ॥5-48-46॥
Translation
That slayer of enemy heroes, who acted with deliberation, having decided his purpose, ceased his movements. Being seized forcibly by the enemies who approached him, and being threatened by them, he roared.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह शत्रुवीरों का हन्ता और सोच-समझकर कार्य करने वाला (हनुमान) प्रयोजन निश्चित करके चेष्टारहित हो गया। शत्रुओं ने सहसा पास आकर उसे पकड़ लिया और वे उसे डाँटने लगे, तब (भी) वह गरजता रहा।
English Commentary
The adjective 'samikshyakari' (one who acts after due deliberation) is crucial. Hanuman simulated inactivity. When the Rakshasas seized and insulted him, he merely roared instead of retaliating physically. This roar was a signal of his latent power, indicating that he was not defeated, merely compliant. It was a form of psychological warfare within physical restraint.

'समीक्ष्यकारी' (अच्छी तरह विचार करके काम करने वाला) विशेषण यहाँ अत्यंत महत्त्वपूर्ण है। हनुमान जी ने निष्क्रियता का नाटक किया। जब राक्षसों ने उन्हें पकड़ा और अपमानित किया, तो वे केवल गरजे, उन्होंने प्रतिशोध नहीं लिया। यह गर्जना उनके पराक्रम का संकेत थी कि वे हारे नहीं हैं, केवल शांत हैं। यह एक मनोवैज्ञानिक युद्ध था।
