ततस्तं राक्षसा दृष्ट्वा निर्विचेष्टमरिन्दमम् ।
बबन्धुः शणवल्कैश्च द्रुमचीरैश्च संहतैः ।
।
॥५-४८-४७॥
tatastaṃ rākṣasā dṛṣṭvā nirviceṣṭamarindamam |
babandhuḥ śaṇavalkaiśca drumacīraiśca saṃhataiḥ ॥5-48-47॥
Translation
Then, seeing that tamer of enemies motionless, the Rakshasas bound him tightly with hemp ropes and strips of tree bark.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनन्तर, उस अरिन्दम (शत्रुदमन हनुमान) को चेष्टारहित देखकर राक्षसों ने उसे सन की रस्सियों और पेड़ों की छालों (के रस्सों) से कसकर बाँध दिया।
English Commentary
The Rakshasas committed a grave error here. Not trusting the power of the Brahmastra implicitly, they proceeded to bind Hanuman with physical ropes made of hemp and bark. This demonstrates their ignorance. Seeing Hanuman motionless, they became overzealous and mistook him for an ordinary captive, layering physical bonds over a metaphysical one.

राक्षसों ने यहाँ एक भारी भूल की। उन्होंने ब्रह्मास्त्र की शक्ति पर पूर्ण विश्वास न करते हुए हनुमान जी को भौतिक रस्सियों (सन और छाल) से भी बाँध दिया। यह उनकी अज्ञानता को दर्शाता है। वे हनुमान जी को निश्चेष्ट देखकर उत्साहित हो गए और उन्हें साधारण बंदी समझने की भूल कर बैठे।
