स रोचयामास परैश्च बन्धं प्रसह्य वीरैरभिनिग्रहं च ।
कौतूहलान्मां यदि राक्षसेन्द्रो द्रष्ठुं व्यवस्येदिति निश्चितार्थः ।
॥५-४८-४८॥
sa rocayāmāsa paraiśca bandhaṃ prasahya vīrairabhinigrahaṃ ca |
kautūhalānmāṃ yadi rākṣasendro draṣṭuṃ vyavasyediti niścitārthaḥ ॥5-48-48॥
Translation
"If out of curiosity the Lord of Rakshasas decides to see me"—having determined this purpose, he accepted the binding by the enemies and the forcible capture by the warriors.
हिंदी अनुवाद
"कौतूहलवश यदि राक्षसेन्द्र मुझे देखने का प्रयत्न करे"—ऐसा निश्चय करके उस वीर ने शत्रुओं द्वारा (रस्सियों से) बाँधे जाने और बलपूर्वक पकड़े जाने को स्वीकार (पसंद) कर लिया।
English Commentary
Hanuman did not resist the binding with ropes. The word 'rochayamasa' (he liked/accepted) indicates this was part of his strategy. He knew that the sight of such a strange and powerful monkey in captivity would pique Ravana's curiosity ('kautuhala'), ensuring a summons to the royal court. It is proof of his foresight.

हनुमान जी ने रस्सियों के बंधन का विरोध नहीं किया। 'रोचयामास' (पसंद किया/स्वीकार किया) शब्द बताता है कि यह उनकी योजना का हिस्सा था। वे जानते थे कि एक विचित्र और शक्तिशाली वानर को बंदी रूप में देखकर रावण की उत्सुकता (कौतूहल) जागेगी और उसे राजसभा में बुलाया जाएगा। यह उनकी दूरदर्शिता का प्रमाण है।
