Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अस्त्रेण हनुमान् मुक्तो नात्मानमवबुध्यत ।
कृष्यमाणस्तु रक्षोभिस्तैश्च बन्धेर्निपीडितः ।
।
॥५-४८-५२॥
astreṇa hanumān mukto nātmānamavabudhyata । kṛṣyamāṇastu rakṣobhistaiśca bandhernipīḍitaḥ । । ॥5-48-52॥
Translation
Though Hanuman was freed from the Astra, he did not reveal this fact. He allowed himself to be dragged by the Rakshasas and endured the pain inflicted by those bonds.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हनुमान जी ब्रह्मास्त्र से मुक्त हो गए थे, किंतु उन्होंने स्वयं को मुक्त नहीं जनाया (प्रकट नहीं किया)। वे राक्षसों द्वारा घसीटे जा रहे थे और उन रस्सियों के बंधन से पीड़ा सह रहे थे।
English Commentary
This verse highlights Hanuman's diplomatic astuteness and endurance. Even though he realized the Brahmastra's hold was gone and he was fully capable of snapping the physical ropes, he chose not to act immediately. His primary objective was not merely combat, but to gain access to Ravana and assess the strength of the Lankan court. To achieve this strategic goal, he voluntarily submitted to physical pain and humiliation. It demonstrates his mastery over his impulses, prioritizing the mission over personal comfort or immediate retaliation.

यह श्लोक हनुमान जी की कूटनीतिक दक्षता और सहनशक्ति का परिचय देता है। यद्यपि वे जानते थे कि ब्रह्मास्त्र का प्रभाव समाप्त हो चुका है और वे रस्सियों को तोड़ने में सक्षम हैं, फिर भी उन्होंने ऐसा नहीं किया। उनका उद्देश्य केवल युद्ध करना नहीं, बल्कि रावण से मिलना और लंका की सभा का निरीक्षण करना था। इस उद्देश्य की पूर्ति के लिए उन्होंने स्वेच्छा से शारीरिक कष्ट और अपमान सहन किया। यह 'साम, दाम, दंड, भेद' में से अवसर के अनुसार व्यवहार करने की नीति है।
