Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
हन्यमानस्ततः क्रूरै राक्षसैः काष्ठमुष्टिभिः ।
समीपं राक्षसेन्द्रस्य प्रकृष्यत स वानरः ।
।
॥५-४८-५३॥
hanyamānastataḥ krūrai rākṣasaiḥ kāṣṭhamuṣṭibhiḥ । samīpaṃ rākṣasendrasya prakṛṣyata sa vānaraḥ । । ॥5-48-53॥
Translation
Then, being beaten by the cruel Rakshasas with sticks and fists, that Vanara was dragged into the presence of the King of Rakshasas.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनंतर, क्रूर राक्षसों द्वारा लकड़ियों और मुक्कों से मारे जाते हुए उस वानर (हनुमान) को राक्षसराज रावण के समीप घसीट कर ले जाया गया।
English Commentary
This depicts the physical penance Hanuman endured. Despite being struck with "sticks and fists," he remained calm. An ordinary warrior might have erupted in violence at such humiliation, but Hanuman controlled his rage. This scene also illustrates the cruelty and lack of discipline among Ravana’s servants, who mistreated a captive so brutally. Hanuman's silent submission here is not a sign of weakness, but a testament to his immense mental fortitude and commitment to his hidden agenda.

यहाँ हनुमान जी की शारीरिक तपस्या का चित्रण है। 'काष्ठमुष्टिभिः' (लकड़ी और मुक्कों से) प्रहार सहते हुए भी वे शांत रहे। एक सामान्य योद्धा ऐसे अपमान पर हिंसक हो उठता, परन्तु हनुमान जी ने अपने क्रोध को वश में रखा। यह दृश्य यह भी दर्शाता है कि रावण के सेवक कितने निर्दयी और अनुशासनहीन थे, जो एक बंदी के साथ ऐसा व्यवहार कर रहे थे। हनुमान जी का यह मौन समर्पण उनकी मानसिक दृढ़ता का प्रमाण है।
