हन्यतां दह्यतां वापि भक्ष्यतामिति चापरे ।
राक्षसास्तत्र संक्रुद्धाः परस्परमथाब्रुवन् ।
॥५-४८-५७॥
hanyatāṃ dahyatāṃ vāpi bhakṣyatāmiti cāpare । rākṣasāstatra saṃkruddhāḥ parasparamathābruvan । ॥5-48-57॥
Translation
Other enraged Rakshasas said to one another—"Kill him! Or burn him! Or let him be eaten!"

वहाँ अन्य क्रुद्ध राक्षस आपस में कहने लगे—"इसे मार डालो, इसे जला दो, अथवा इसे खा जाओ।"
English Commentary
The tamasic and violent nature of the Rakshasas is evident here. They do not believe in due process or deliberation but demand immediate execution. The word "bhakṣyatām" (let him be eaten) highlights their cannibalistic tendencies. Their anger was at its peak due to the destruction of the Ashoka Vatika and the death of Prince Aksha, creating an atmosphere of chaos and bloodlust in the assembly.

राक्षसों की तामसिक और हिंसक प्रकृति यहाँ स्पष्ट होती है। वे न्याय या विचार-विमर्श में विश्वास नहीं करते, बल्कि तत्काल मृत्युदंड की मांग करते हैं। 'भक्ष्यताम्' (खा जाओ) शब्द उनकी नरभक्षी प्रवृत्ति को उजागर करता है। अशोक वाटिका के विध्वंस और अक्षय कुमार की मृत्यु से उनका क्रोध चरम पर था, इसलिए सभा में अराजकता का वातावरण बन गया था।
