Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
ममानुरूपं तपसो बलं च ते पराक्रमश्चास्त्रबलं च संयुगे ।
न त्वां समासाद्य रणावमर्दे मनः श्रमं गच्छति निश्चितार्थम् ।

५.४८.६।। ॥५-४८-६॥
mamānurūpaṃ tapaso balaṃ ca te parākramaścāstrabalaṃ ca saṃyuge |
na tvāṃ samāsādya raṇāvamarde manaḥ śramaṃ gacchati niścitārtham ॥5-48-6॥
Translation
Your strength of penance, your valor, and your power of astras in battle are equal to mine. Having engaged you in the crush of battle, my mind, assured of the objective, does not suffer from anxiety.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तुम्हारी तपस्या का बल, तुम्हारा पराक्रम और युद्ध में अस्त्रों का बल मेरे ही अनुरूप (समान) है। युद्ध के मुहाने पर तुम्हें पाकर (भेजकर), परिणाम के प्रति निश्चिंत होकर मेरा मन खेद (चिंता) को प्राप्त नहीं होता।
English Commentary
This verse contains the ultimate compliment from Ravana: he explicitly equates Indrajit's prowess, penance, and weapon mastery to his own ('mamanurupam'). Given Ravana's colossal ego, placing his son on his own pedestal is significant. He states that sending Indrajit to the front lines brings him peace of mind ('manah shramam na gacchati'), implying that with anyone else, Ravana would worry, but with Indrajit, the outcome is guaranteed. This highlights Indrajit's status as the Crown Prince and the de facto protector of Lanka when Ravana himself is not fighting. It reveals Ravana's reliance on Indrajit as the only warrior capable of filling his shoes.

एक पुत्र के लिए पिता से यह सुनना कि "तुम मेरे समान हो" (ममानुरूपं), सबसे बड़ा सम्मान होता है। रावण, जो अत्यंत अहंकारी है और स्वयं को सर्वश्रेष्ठ मानता है, यहाँ स्वीकार कर रहा है कि इंद्रजीत शक्ति और तपस्या में उसके बराबर है। रावण कहता है कि इंद्रजीत को युद्ध में भेजकर वह 'निश्चितार्थम्' (निश्चित सफलता वाला) हो जाता है और उसका मन शांत हो जाता है। इससे पहले रावण ने अपने कई वीर और पुत्र (अक्षय कुमार) खो दिए हैं, जिससे वह अवश्य ही व्यथित है, किन्तु इंद्रजीत की क्षमताएँ उसे उस व्यथा और चिंता से मुक्त करती हैं। यह श्लोक पिता और पुत्र के बीच के गहरे विश्वास और सम्मान को दर्शाता है।
