बलानि सुसमृद्धानि साश्वनागरथानि च ।
सहोदरस्ते दयितः कुमारो ऽक्षश्च सूदितः ।

५.४८.८।। ॥५-४८-८॥
balāni susamṛddhāni sāśvanāgarathāni ca |
sahodaraste dayitaḥ kumāro 'kṣaśca sūditaḥ ॥5-48-8॥
Translation
Great and prosperous armies equipped with horses, elephants, and chariots have been destroyed. And your beloved brother, Prince Aksha, has been killed.
हिंदी अनुवाद
घोड़ों, हाथियों और रथों से युक्त विशाल सेनाएँ (नष्ट हो गईं), और तुम्हारा प्रिय सहोदर भाई कुमार अक्षय भी मारा गया।
English Commentary
Ravana delivers the emotional blow in this verse. Beyond the loss of elephants, horses, and chariots, he mentions the death of Prince Aksha, Indrajit's beloved biological brother ('sahodarah'). This is a calculated move to incite righteous anger and vengeance in Indrajit. While the previous verses appealed to Indrajit's pride and duty, this one appeals to his personal loss. By reminding him that his younger brother has been slaughtered, Ravana ensures that Indrajit will not show mercy. It also emphasizes the severity of the situation—a prince of the royal blood has fallen, making this a matter of personal honor for the royal family.

यह श्लोक रावण के भाषण का भावनात्मक शिखर है। वह सेना के विनाश के साथ-साथ 'सहोदरः ते दयितः' (तुम्हारे प्रिय सहोदर) अक्षय कुमार की मृत्यु का उल्लेख करता है। इसका उद्देश्य इंद्रजीत के भीतर प्रतिशोध की ज्वाला प्रज्वलित करना है। भाई की मृत्यु किसी भी योद्धा के लिए युद्ध का सबसे बड़ा उत्प्रेरक (trigger) होती है। रावण यहाँ कूटनीतिक रूप से अपने पुत्र की भावनाओं को उत्तेजित कर रहा है ताकि वह पूरी क्रूरता और शक्ति के साथ हनुमान पर आक्रमण करे। साथ ही, 'साश्वनागरथानि' का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि हनुमान ने चतुरंगिणी सेना का विध्वंस अकेले किया है।
