न हि तेष्वेव मे सारो यस्त्वय्यरिनिषूदन ।

na hi teṣveva me sāro yastvayyariniṣūdana ॥5-48-9॥
Translation
O Destroyer of Enemies! The strength (essence) that is in you was indeed not present in them.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे अरिनिषूदन (शत्रुओं का नाश करने वाले)! जो बल (सार) तुम में है, वह उनमें (मारे गए योद्धाओं में) नहीं था।
English Commentary
Ravana rationalizes the previous defeats by distinguishing Indrajit from the fallen warriors. He states that the 'sara' (essence, core strength, or substance) possessed by Indrajit was lacking in the others, even in Prince Aksha. This serves to reassure Indrajit that the fate of his brother and the generals need not be his fate, because he is fundamentally superior to them. It acts as a confidence booster, suggesting that the previous losses were due to the insufficiency of those warriors, whereas Indrajit is the true repository of Lanka's power. The epithet 'Arinishudana' (slayer of foes) reinforces his expected role.

रावण यहाँ मारे गए योद्धाओं (अक्षय कुमार सहित) और इंद्रजीत के बीच एक स्पष्ट तुलना कर रहा है। वह कहता है कि यद्यपि वे वीर थे, परन्तु उनमें वह 'सार' (तत्व/क्षमता) नहीं था जो इंद्रजीत में है। यह कहकर रावण एक तरफ तो अपने नुकसान को तार्किक ठहरा रहा है (कि वे कमजोर थे इसलिए मारे गए), और दूसरी तरफ इंद्रजीत को यह विश्वास दिला रहा है कि उसका परिणाम उन जैसा नहीं होगा। 'अरिनिषूदन' संबोधन का प्रयोग यह याद दिलाने के लिए है कि इंद्रजीत का काम शत्रु का नाश करना है, न कि केवल युद्ध करना।
