शिरोभिर्दशभिर्वीरं भ्राजमानं महौजसम् ।
नानाव्यालसमाकीर्णैः शिखरैरिव मन्दरम् ।

५.४९.६।। ॥५-४९-६॥
śirobhirdaśabhirvīraṃ bhrājamānaṃ mahaujasam । nānāvyālasamākīrṇaiḥ śikharairiva mandaram । । ॥5-49-6॥
Translation
That hero of great energy, shining with his ten heads, looked like Mount Mandara with its peaks inhabited by various serpents and wild beasts.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह महातेजस्वी वीर (रावण) अपने दस सिरों से ऐसा सुशोभित हो रहा था, मानो अनेक प्रकार के साँपों/हिंसक जीवों से भरा हुआ शिखरों वाला मंदराचल पर्वत हो।
English Commentary
Ravana is compared to Mount Mandara. Just as the mountain is massive and immovable, so is Ravana. His ten heads correspond to the mountain's peaks. The reference to 'vyala' (serpents/beasts) suggests that his adorned heads look like peaks teeming with dangerous creatures. This simile reinforces both the vastness of his physical form and his perilous nature.

यहाँ रावण की तुलना 'मंदराचल पर्वत' से की गई है। जैसे मंदराचल विशाल और स्थिर है, वैसे ही रावण है। उसके दस सिर पर्वत के शिखरों (चोटियों) के समान हैं। 'व्याल' का अर्थ साँप या हिंसक जीव होता है; रावण के सिरों पर सजे मुकुट और आभूषण साँपों की तरह प्रतीत हो रहे हैं। यह उपमा उसके आकार की विशालता और खतरनाक प्रकृति दोनों को पुष्ट करती है।
