मत्तप्रमत्तानि समाकुलानि ।
तथाश्वभद्रासनसम्कुलानि ।
वीरः श्रिया चापि समाकुलानि ।
ददर्श धीमान् स कपिः कुलानि ॥५-५-१०॥
matta pramattāni samākulāni । tathā aśva bhadrāsana saṃkulāni । vīraḥ śriyā cāpi samākulāni । dadarśa dhīmān sa kapiḥ kulāni ॥5-5-10॥
Translation
That intelligent Vānara (Hanuman) saw the houses (clans) of the Rākṣasas, which were crowded with drunk and wildly intoxicated people, filled with horses and excellent seats (chariots), and abounding with heroes and wealth (Śrī).
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस बुद्धिमान वानर (हनुमान) ने राक्षसों के उन कुलों (घरों) को देखा, जो मदिरा से मस्त और प्रमत्त लोगों से भरे थे, जिनमें घोड़े और उत्तम आसन (सिंहासन/रथ) भरे पड़े थे, और जो वीरों तथा लक्ष्मी (धन-सम्पदा) से परिपूर्ण थे।
English Commentary
Having observed Ravana's palace, Hanumān now inspects the broader residential areas or clans (houses) of the Rākṣasas. The terms matta and pramatta emphasize their deep intoxication and wildness. These houses were not just dwellings but arsenals filled with horses and signs of luxury like excellent seats (bhadrāsana). The mention of Śrī (wealth) and Vīra (heroes) confirms that Lanka was economically and militarily robust. Hanumān acts as a calculating spy, noting both the strength (wealth/warriors) and the weakness (intoxication) of the enemy.

हनुमान जी अब रावण के महल से बाहर निकलकर सामान्य राक्षसों की बस्तियों (कुलों/घरों) का निरीक्षण कर रहे हैं। 'मत्त' और 'प्रमत्त' शब्द उनके अत्यधिक नशे और होश खोने की स्थिति को दर्शाते हैं। उनके घर केवल निवास स्थान नहीं थे, बल्कि युद्ध सामग्री (घोड़े) और विलासिता (भद्रासन) के भंडार थे। 'श्रिया' (लक्ष्मी/संपत्ति) और 'वीरैः' (वीरों) का उल्लेख यह बताता है कि लंका आर्थिक और सैन्य रूप से अत्यंत शक्तिशाली थी। हनुमान जी एक गुप्तचर की भांति शत्रु की सम्पदा और कमजोरी (नशा) दोनों का आकलन कर रहे हैं।
