तत्त्वतः कथयस्वाद्य ततो वानर मोक्ष्यसे ।
अनृतं वदतश्चापि दुर्लभं तव जीवितम् ।
अथवा यन्निमित्तं ते प्रवेशो रावणालये ।

Tattvataḥ kathayasvādya tato vānara mokṣyase । Anṛtaṃ vadataścāpi durlabhaṃ tava jīvitam । Athavā yannimittaṃ te praveśo rāvaṇālaye । ॥5-50-11॥
Translation
"Tell the truth today, O Monkey, and you shall be released. But if you speak untruth, your survival will be rare (impossible). Or (simply tell us) for what purpose you entered Ravana's abode."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे वानर! आज तुम तत्त्व (सत्य) बता दो, तो तुम छूट जाओगे। झूठ बोलने पर तुम्हारा जीवित रहना दुर्लभ है। अथवा (यह बता दो कि) जिस प्रयोजन से तुम्हारा रावण के भवन में प्रवेश हुआ है।"
English Commentary
Prahasta delivers the ultimatum: truth brings freedom, lies bring death. 'Durlabhaṃ tava jīvitam' (your life will be hard to keep) is a euphemism for execution. This completes the interrogation strategy—offering safety first, then logically categorizing the suspect, and finally brandishing the threat of lethal force. Prahasta leaves the door open for a third option: if not sent by gods, perhaps Hanuman has a personal agenda ('Yannimittaṃ'). The goal is to demystify the intruder's intent before taking action.

यह अंतिम चेतावनी है। प्रहस्त 'दण्ड' (सजा) का भय दिखाता है। वह स्पष्ट करता है कि जीवन और मृत्यु केवल 'सत्य' पर निर्भर है। 'दुर्लभं तव जीवितम्' एक कूटनीतिक धमकी है—अर्थात, "हम तुम्हें मारना नहीं चाहते, लेकिन झूठ बोलोगे तो हम विवश होंगे।" वह हनुमान को एक और विकल्प देता है कि यदि वे किसी देवता के दूत नहीं हैं, तो वे अपना कोई व्यक्तिगत 'निमित्त' (उद्देश्य) बता दें। प्रहस्त हर हाल में सूचना प्राप्त करना चाहता है।
