भ्रातुः शृणु समादेशं सुग्रीवस्य महात्मनः ।
धर्मार्थोपहितं वाक्यमिह चामुत्र च क्षमम् ।

Bhrātuḥ śṛṇu samādeśaṃ sugrīvasya mahātmanaḥ । Dharmārthopahitaṃ vākyamiha cāmutra ca kṣamam । । ॥5-51-3॥
Translation
"Listen to the message of your brother, the great-souled Sugriva—words that are endowed with righteousness (Dharma) and meaning (Artha), and are beneficial both here and hereafter."

"अपने भाई महात्मा सुग्रीव का यह संदेश सुनिए, जो धर्म और अर्थ से युक्त है तथा इस लोक और परलोक, दोनों में हितकर (क्षमम्) है।"
English Commentary
Hanuman frames the message as wise counsel rather than a mere threat. He characterizes it as being grounded in 'Dharma' (ethics) and 'Artha' (wealth/political gain). He assures Ravana that heeding this advice is 'Kṣamam' (competent/beneficial) for both his earthly reign ('Iha') and his spiritual destiny ('Amutra'). This implies that rejecting the message would lead to ruin in both worlds. Hanuman positions Sugriva not as an enemy, but as a 'Mahātman' (great soul) offering a lifeline to a drowning king.

हनुमान जी संदेश की भूमिका बांधते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि सुग्रीव का संदेश केवल धमकी नहीं है, बल्कि उसमें 'धर्म' (नैतिकता) और 'अर्थ' (व्यावहारिक लाभ) दोनों हैं। यदि रावण इसे मानता है, तो उसका 'इह' (वर्तमान जीवन/राज्य) सुरक्षित रहेगा और 'अमुत्र' (परलोक/भविष्य) भी सुधर जाएगा। यह रावण को समझाने का प्रयास है कि सीता को लौटाना ही उसके लिए सबसे बड़ा लाभ है। 'महात्मनः' विशेषण सुग्रीव की उदारता को दर्शाता है कि वे शत्रु को भी सही सलाह दे रहे हैं।
