सीतायास्तेजसा दग्धां रामकोपप्रपीडिताम् ।
दह्यमानामिमां पश्य पुरीं साट्टप्रतोलिकाम् ।

Sītāyāstejasā dagdhāṃ rāmakopaprapīḍitām । Dahyamānāmimāṃ paśya purīṃ sāṭṭapratolikām । । ॥5-51-36॥
Translation
Behold this city with its mansions and gateways as already burning, consumed by the energy of Sita and oppressed by the wrath of Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सीता के तेज से जली हुई और राम के कोप से पीड़ित, अटारियों और मुख्य द्वारों सहित इस नगरी (लंका) को आप अभी से जलती हुई देखिये।
English Commentary
Hanumat speaks like a visionary. Although physically Lanka is not yet burning (Hanumat is yet to set it on fire), on a spiritual and moral level, it has already been consumed by the heat of Sita's suffering and the power of her chastity. Hanumat asks Ravana to see with 'divine sight' that the grand mansions (Atta) and streets (Pratolika) of Lanka are already burning invisibly in the fire of Rama's wrath. This signifies the inevitability of the fruition of sin.

हनुमान एक भविष्यद्रष्टा की भांति बोल रहे हैं। यद्यपि भौतिक रूप से लंका अभी जली नहीं है (हनुमान द्वारा जलाना शेष है), किन्तु आध्यात्मिक और नैतिक स्तर पर सीता के संताप और सतीत्व के तेज ने उसे पहले ही भस्म कर दिया है। हनुमान रावण को 'दिव्य दृष्टि' से देखने को कहते हैं कि लंका के भव्य भवन (अट्ट) और गलियां (प्रतोलिका) राम के क्रोध की अग्नि में अदृश्य रूप से जल चुकी हैं। यह पाप के फल की निश्चितता का संकेत है।
