Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स्वानि मित्राणि मन्त्रीश्च ज्ञातीन् भ्रातऽन् सुतान् हितान् ।
भोगान् दारांश्च लङ्कां च मा विनाशमुपानय ।

॥५-५१-३७॥
Svāni mitrāṇi mantrīṃśca jñātīn bhrātṝn sutān hitān । Bhogān dārāṃśca laṅkāṃ ca mā vināśamupānaya । । ॥5-51-37॥
Translation
Do not lead your own friends, ministers, kinsmen, brothers, sons, well-wishers, pleasures, wives, and the city of Lanka to destruction.

अपने मित्रों, मंत्रियों, अपने भाई-बंधुओं, पुत्रों, हितैषियों, भोगों, अपनी पत्नियों और लंका को विनाश के मुख में मत डालिये।
English Commentary
This verse underscores 'Rajadharma' and the responsibility of a king. A king's sins are not limited to him alone; the consequences are borne by his subjects, family, and kingdom. Hanumat reminds Ravana that due to his obstinacy, his innocent sons, brothers, and citizens will perish. 'Ma vinashamupanaya' (do not lead to destruction) is a grave warning that Ravana's ego will erase the very existence of his empire. This blends the diplomatic policies of dividing (Bheda) and punishment (Danda).

यह श्लोक 'राजधर्म' और एक राजा के उत्तरदायित्व को रेखांकित करता है। राजा के पाप केवल उसी तक सीमित नहीं रहते; उनका परिणाम पूरी प्रजा, परिवार और राज्य को भुगतना पड़ता है। हनुमान रावण को याद दिला रहे हैं कि उसके हठ के कारण उसके निर्दोष पुत्र, भाई और प्रजा मारे जाएंगे। 'मा विनाशमुपानय' (विनाश के पास मत ले जाओ) एक गंभीर चेतावनी है कि रावण का अहंकार उसके पूरे साम्राज्य के अस्तित्व को मिटा देगा। यह साम नीति के अंतर्गत भेद और दंड का मिश्रण है।
