अपि चास्मिन् हते राजन् नान्यं पश्यामि खेचरम् ।
इह यः पुनरागच्छेत् परं पारं महोदधेः ।

api cāsmin hate rājan nānyaṃ paśyāmi khecaram |
iha yaḥ punarāgacchet paraṃ pāraṃ mahodadheḥ ॥5-52-20॥
Translation
"Moreover, O King, if he is killed, I do not see any other creature moving in the sky who could come here again from the other shore of the great ocean."

"हे राजन! इसके मारे जाने पर, मुझे कोई दूसरा ऐसा खेचर (आकाश में चलने वाला) नहीं दिखाई देता जो इस महासागर के उस पार से पुनः यहाँ आ सके।"
English Commentary
Vibhishana presents a logistical argument. He points out Hanuman’s unique capability: he is likely the only 'khecaram' (sky-goer/creature) capable of crossing the 'mahodadheḥ' (great ocean). If Ravana kills him, he severs the only link between Lanka and the mainland. Without Hanuman returning to report, Rama might never know Sita's location or be able to lead an army to Lanka. Vibhishana subtly implies that killing Hanuman might actually prevent the war Ravana desires, or at least delay it indefinitely, which would deny Ravana the chance to defeat his true enemies.

यह विभीषण का सबसे बड़ा रणनीतिक दांव है। वे कहते हैं कि हनुमान ही एकमात्र ऐसे वानर हैं जो समुद्र लांघकर यहाँ आ सके हैं। यदि इन्हें मार दिया गया, तो लंका और राम की सेना के बीच संपर्क टूट जाएगा। कोई दूसरा 'खेचर' (पक्षी या वानर) इतना समर्थ नहीं दिखता जो वापस आकर राम को लंका का मार्ग बता सके या रावण की चुनौती उन तक पहुँचा सके। युद्ध के लिए शत्रु का यहाँ आना आवश्यक है, और शत्रु के आने के लिए हनुमान का जीवित लौटना आवश्यक है।
