स भूयः सङ्गतैः क्रूरै राक्षसैर्हरिसत्तमः ।
निबद्धः कृतवान् वीरस्तत्कालसदृशीं मतिम् ।

Sa bhūyaḥ saṅgataiḥ krūrai rākṣasairharisattamaḥ । Nibaddhaḥ kṛtavān vīrastatkālasadṛśīṃ matim । । ॥5-53-10॥
Translation
Though surrounded and bound by those cruel Rakshasas, that hero, the best among monkeys, adopted a mindset appropriate for the occasion.

उन क्रूर राक्षसों से घिरे होने और बंधे होने पर भी, वानरों में श्रेष्ठ उस वीर (हनुमान) ने तत्काल समय के अनुकूल बुद्धि धारण की (अर्थात विचार किया)।
English Commentary
Here, Hanuman is described as 'Harisattamaḥ' (best among monkeys) and 'Vira' (hero). His heroism is defined not just by physical strength but by his mental equanimity. Despite the humiliating circumstances and physical pain of being bound and burnt, he did not lose his composure. The phrase 'tatkālasadṛśīṃ matim' (mindset appropriate for the time) is significant. It encapsulates the wisdom of acting according to Desh (place), Kaal (time), and Patra (circumstance). Instead of reacting with immediate rage, Hanuman realized that strategic patience was required. He understood that this was an opportunity to further his mission rather than just a moment of suffering, showcasing his supreme presence of mind.

यहाँ हनुमान जी को 'हरिसत्तमः' (वानरों में श्रेष्ठ) और 'वीरः' कहा गया है। उनकी वीरता केवल शारीरिक बल में नहीं, बल्कि उनकी मानसिक स्थिरता में भी है। अत्यंत अपमानजनक स्थिति और शारीरिक कष्ट के बीच भी उन्होंने अपना विवेक नहीं खोया। 'तत्कालसदृशीं मतिम्' (समय के अनुकूल बुद्धि) एक बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण वाक्यांश है। इसका अर्थ है कि एक बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति भावनाओं में बहकर प्रतिक्रिया नहीं देता, बल्कि 'देश-काल-पात्र' का विचार करके निर्णय लेता है। हनुमान जी ने सोचा कि अभी क्रोध करने या बंधन तोड़ने का सही समय नहीं है; अभी शत्रु की योजना को समझना और लंका का निरीक्षण करना अधिक आवश्यक है। यह उनकी स्थितप्रज्ञता का प्रमाण है।
