कामं खलु न मे शक्ता निबद्धस्यापि राक्षसाः ।
छित्त्वा पाशान् समुत्पत्य हन्यामहमिमान् पुनः ।
।
5.53.11।। ॥५-५३-११॥
Kāmaṃ khalu na me śaktā nibaddhasyāpi rākṣasāḥ । Chittvā pāśān samutpatya hanyāmahamimān punaḥ । । ॥5-53-11॥
Translation
Though I am indeed bound, these Rakshasas are not capable of subduing me. I can easily break these bonds, spring up, and kill them all.

यद्यपि मैं बंधा हुआ हूँ, फिर भी ये राक्षस मेरा कुछ बिगाड़ने में समर्थ नहीं हैं। मैं इन बंधनों को तोड़कर और उछलकर इन सबको मार सकता हूँ।
English Commentary
This verse serves as an internal monologue validating Hanuman's confidence and actual power. He assesses his situation and concludes that the bonds are trivial compared to his strength. The word 'Kāmaṃ' implies 'undoubtedly' or 'granted that'. He asserts that his captivity is not due to a lack of capability but a choice. He could snap the ropes and slaughter his captors instantly. This distinction is vital: Hanuman is not a helpless victim; he is a strategic warrior who chooses to withhold his power. It illustrates that true restraint comes from a position of strength, not weakness. He endures the binding voluntarily for the success of Rama's mission.
