यदि भर्तृहितार्थाय चरन्तं भर्तृशासनात् ।
बध्नन्त्येते दुरात्मानो न तु मे निष्कृतिः कृता ।
।
5.53.12।। ॥५-५३-१२॥
Yadi bhartṛhitārthāya carantaṃ bhartṛśāsanāt । Badhnantyete durātmāno na tu me niṣkṛtiḥ kṛtā । । ॥5-53-12॥
Translation
If, while acting for the benefit of my Master and by His command, these evil-minded ones have bound me, it is no defeat or cause for atonement for me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यदि स्वामी (श्री राम) के हित के लिए और स्वामी की आज्ञा से कार्य करते हुए मुझे इन दुरात्माओं ने बांध भी लिया है, तो भी यह मेरे लिए कोई लज्जा या पराजय (निष्कृति) की बात नहीं है।
English Commentary
This verse presents the highest ideal of 'Dasya Bhakti' (devotion of a servant). Hanuman reflects that suffering encountered while executing the Master's command is not personal suffering. Acting for 'bhartṛhitārthāya' (the benefit of the Master) transforms even captivity into a badge of honor. He feels no shame or need for 'niṣkṛti' (counter-action, escape, or atonement) because his captivity is a direct result of his loyalty. He reasons that being bound by the enemy while serving the Lord is not a defeat. It highlights a profound spiritual truth: in the path of service, external humiliation is irrelevant as long as the internal dedication to the Master remains unbreakable.

यहाँ 'दास्य भक्ति' का सर्वोच्च आदर्श प्रस्तुत किया गया है। हनुमान जी विचार करते हैं कि जब कोई सेवक अपने स्वामी के कार्य पर होता है, तो उस कार्य के दौरान आने वाले कष्ट या अपमान व्यक्तिगत नहीं होते। 'भर्तृहितार्थाय' (स्वामी के हित के लिए) किया गया हर कार्य, चाहे उसका परिणाम बंधन ही क्यों न हो, गौरवपूर्ण है। 'निष्कृति' का अर्थ यहाँ 'प्रायश्चित' या 'बुरा बदला' है; हनुमान जी को लगता है कि उन्हें इस बंधन से मुक्त होने की कोई जल्दी नहीं है क्योंकि यह बंधन धर्मयुद्ध का ही एक अंग है। स्वामी के कार्य में उठाया गया कष्ट, कष्ट नहीं अपितु तपस्या है। यह श्लोक कर्मयोग की भावना से ओत-प्रोत है।
