अथापश्यद्विमानानि विचित्राणि महाकपिः ।
संवृतान् भूमिभागांश्च सुविभक्तांश्च चत्वरान् ।

5.53.20।। ॥५-५३-२०॥
Athāpaśyadvimānāni vicitrāṇi mahākapiḥ । Saṃvṛtān bhūmibhāgāṃśca suvibhaktāṃśca catvarān । । ॥5-53-20॥
Translation
Then, the great monkey saw wonderful aerial cars (or seven-story palaces), enclosed plots of land, and well-divided crossroads.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उस महाकपि ने (लंका में) विचित्र विमान (बहुमंजिला भवन), घिरे हुए (सुरक्षित) भू-भाग और सुंदर रीति से बंटे हुए चौराहे देखे।
English Commentary
This verse describes the architecture and town planning of Lanka as observed by Hanuman. He saw 'vimānāni', which in this context refers to magnificent multi-story palaces resembling aerial cars in grandeur. He noted 'saṃvṛtān bhūmibhāgāṃ', referring to enclosed or fortified areas, likely hiding armories or strategic assets. 'Suvibhaktāṃśca catvarān' indicates well-laid-out crossroads and squares. Hanuman was analyzing these features not for their beauty, but for their tactical significance—identifying potential choke points, ambush locations, and open spaces suitable for the deployment of troops during the inevitable war.

इस श्लोक में लंका के स्थापत्य (Architecture) और शहरी नियोजन (Town planning) का वर्णन है। हनुमान जी ने 'विमानानि' देखे—यहाँ इसका अर्थ केवल उड़ने वाले वाहन नहीं, बल्कि सात मंजिला ऊँचे भवन भी हो सकता है जो विमान जैसे भव्य थे। 'संवृतान् भूमिभागांश्च' से तात्पर्य उन सुरक्षित स्थानों से है जहाँ गुप्त मंत्रणाएँ या शस्त्रागार हो सकते थे। 'सुविभक्तांश्च चत्वरान्' का अर्थ है कि लंका की सड़कें और चौराहे बहुत व्यवस्थित थे। हनुमान जी एक वास्तुकार की दृष्टि से नहीं, बल्कि एक आक्रमणकारी की दृष्टि से देख रहे थे कि युद्ध के समय कहाँ मोर्चाबंदी की जा सकती है और कहाँ से आक्रमण करना सुगम होगा।
