Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
विमुक्तश्चाभवच्छ्रीमान् पुनः पर्वतसन्निभः ।
वीक्षमाणश्च ददृशे परिघं तोरणाश्रितम् ।
।
॥५-५३-४३॥
Vimuktaścābhavacchrīmān punaḥ parvatasannibhaḥ । Vīkṣamāṇaśca dadṛśe parighaṃ toraṇāśritam । । ॥5-53-43॥
Translation
Having become free, the glorious one became mountain-like again. Looking around, he saw an iron bar [bludgeon] resting at the archway.
हिंदी अनुवाद
बंधन मुक्त होकर वह श्रीमान पुनः पर्वत के समान (विशाल) हो गए। इधर-उधर देखते हुए उन्हें तोरण (द्वार) पर रखा हुआ एक परिघ (लोहे का मूसल/अर्गला) दिखाई दिया।
English Commentary
Once free, Hanuman immediately reverts to his warrior form ('parvatasannibhaḥ' - like a mountain) to intimidate the enemy and prepare for combat. Scanning his surroundings ('vīkṣamāṇaḥ') for a weapon, he spots a 'parigha' (an iron club or bar used to bolt gates) near the archway. This verse highlights his readiness and resourcefulness; he essentially arms himself with part of the city's own defenses.

बंधन से छूटते ही हनुमान जी ने युद्ध के लिए पुनः विशाल रूप धारण कर लिया। बिना शस्त्र के युद्ध करना कठिन होता है, इसलिए उन्होंने 'वीक्षमाणः' (निरीक्षण करते हुए) आस-पास देखा। उनकी दृष्टि तोरण (द्वार) पर रखे हुए एक 'परिघ' (लोहे की भारी छड़) पर पड़ी। यह दर्शाता है कि वीर पुरुष संकट से छूटते ही सबसे पहले अपनी रक्षा और प्रहार के साधन खोजता है।
