Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तं गृह्य महाबाहुः कालायसपरिष्कृतम् ।
रक्षिणस्तान् पुनः सर्वान् सूदयामास मारुतिः ।
।
॥५-५३-४४॥
Sa taṃ gṛhya mahābāhuḥ kālāyasapariṣkṛtam । Rakṣiṇastān punaḥ sarvān sūdayāmāsa mārutiḥ । । ॥5-53-44॥
Translation
Seizing that club made of black iron, the mighty-armed Maruti killed all those guards again [or the remaining guards].
हिंदी अनुवाद
काले लोहे से बने (या उससे जड़े हुए) उस परिघ को लेकर, महाबाहु मारुति (हनुमान) ने उन सभी रक्षकों को पुनः मार डाला।
English Commentary
The climax of this sequence is the slaughter of the guards. Hanuman, described as 'mahābāhuḥ' (mighty-armed), wields the heavy black-iron club ('kālāyasapariṣkṛtam') with ease. The use of 'punaḥ' (again) implies he attacked the guards who had recaptured him or the new set of guards stationed there. 'Sūdayāmāsa' (destroyed/killed) marks the decisive shift from the captive diplomat to the destroying warrior. This act clears the way for the burning of Lanka that follows immediately.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक हनुमान जी के पराक्रम का वर्णन करता है। 'कालायसपरिष्कृतम्' का अर्थ है काला लोहा (फौलाद) जिससे वह परिघ बना था। हनुमान जी ने उसे खिलौने की तरह उठा लिया। 'रक्षिणः तान् पुनः' का अर्थ है कि जिन रक्षकों ने उन्हें बांधा था या जो वहां पहरा दे रहे थे, उनका उन्होंने संहार कर दिया। 'सूदयामास' (मार डाला) शब्द से स्पष्ट है कि अब हनुमान जी शांत भाव त्यागकर रौद्र रूप में आ गए हैं। लंका दहन से पूर्व यह उनका पहला आक्रामक कदम था।
