Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
वज्रदंष्ट्रस्य च तथा पुप्लुवे स महाकपिः ।
शुकस्य च महातेजाः सारणस्य च धीमतः ।
तथा चेन्द्रजितो वेश्म ददाह हरियूथपः ।
।
॥५-५४-१०॥
Vajradaṃṣṭrasya ca tathā pupluve sa mahākapiḥ । Śukasya ca mahātejāḥ sāraṇasya ca dhīmataḥ । Tathā cendrajito veśma dadāha hariyūthapaḥ । । ॥5-54-10॥
Translation
Similarly, the great monkey leaped to Vajradamstra's house, and to Shuka's, and to the wise Sarana's. The leader of the monkey troops also burned down Indrajit's mansion.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उसी प्रकार वे महाकपि वज्रदंष्ट्र, शुक और बुद्धिमान सारण के घर पर कूदे। वानर यूथपति (हनुमान) ने इंद्रजीत के भवन को भी जला दिया।
English Commentary
This verse lists high-value targets. Hanuman systematically hits the homes of the elite: Vajradamstra (a general), Shuka and Sarana (ministers/spies), and most significantly, Indrajit (Ravana's heir and greatest warrior). Burning Indrajit's palace is a massive psychological blow to the Rakshasas. Interestingly, Sarana is referred to as dhīmataḥ (wise/intelligent), acknowledging his status as a knowledgeable minister even as his property is destroyed. Hanuman, the hariyūthapaḥ (leader of monkey troops), is dismantling the abodes of the very pillars of Ravana’s empire.

यह श्लोक महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि यहाँ रावण के सबसे करीबी और शक्तिशाली लोगों के घरों का विनाश वर्णित है। वज्रदंष्ट्र (राक्षस योद्धा), शुक और सारण (रावण के गुप्तचर और मंत्री), और सबसे महत्वपूर्ण 'इंद्रजीत' (रावण का पुत्र और लंका का सबसे बड़ा योद्धा)। इंद्रजीत के भवन को जलाना रावण के उत्तराधिकारी को सीधा आघात है। यहाँ सारण के लिए 'धीमतः' (बुद्धिमान) विशेषण का प्रयोग शत्रु के गुणों को भी स्वीकार करने की वाल्मीकि शैली है, भले ही उसका घर जलाया जा रहा हो।
