जम्बुमालेः सुमालेश्च ददाह भवनं ततः ।
।
॥५-५४-११॥
Jambumāleḥ sumāleśca dadāha bhavanaṃ tataḥ । । ॥5-54-11॥
Translation
Thereafter, he burned the mansions of Jambumali and Sumali.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तत्पश्चात् उन्होंने जम्बुमाली और सुमाली के भवन को जला दिया।
English Commentary
The destruction continues with the houses of Jambumali and Sumali. Jambumali had already been killed by Hanuman in the earlier skirmish, yet burning his house signifies the total erasure of his presence. Sumali is Ravana's maternal grandfather and a patriarch of the Rakshasa clan. Burning his residence symbolizes an attack on the ancient roots and the heritage of the Rakshasa lineage in Lanka. No faction of the Rakshasa leadership is spared.

इस क्रम में हनुमान जी जम्बुमाली (जिसे वे पहले ही युद्ध में मार चुके थे) और सुमाली (रावण के नाना और वरिष्ठ राक्षस) के भवनों को जलाते हैं। यद्यपि जम्बुमाली मर चुका है, उसके घर को जलाना उसके कुल और स्मृति को मिटाने जैसा है। सुमाली लंका के पुराने और प्रतिष्ठित राक्षसों में से है, अतः उसका घर जलाना लंका की पुरानी नींव को हिलाने का प्रतीक है। कोई भी राक्षस नेतृत्व के एक भी खंड को नहीं बख्शा गया।
