Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रदीप्तमग्निं पवनस्तेषु वेश्मस्वचारयत् ।
अभूच्छ्वसनसंयोगादतिवेगो हुताशनः ।
।
॥५-५४-२२॥
Pradīptamagniṃ pavanasteṣu veśmasvacārayat । Abhūcchvasanasaṃyogādativego hutāśanaḥ । । ॥5-54-22॥
Translation
The wind spread that blazing fire across those mansions. Due to the contact with the wind, the fire became exceedingly swift.
हिंदी अनुवाद
पवन ने उस प्रज्वलित अग्नि को उन महलों में फैला दिया। हवा के संपर्क से वह अग्नि अत्यंत वेगवती हो गई।
English Commentary
The wind acts as an active agent of destruction, carrying the fire from building to building. The phrase acārayat (caused to move/spread) implies that the wind is deliberately guiding the flames. This collaboration between Hanuman (the son of Wind), the Wind itself, and the Fire creates a triad of destruction against which the Rakshasas have no defense. The speed (ativego) ensures total devastation before any countermeasures can be taken.
हिंदी टीका
यह श्लोक पिछले भाव को ही पुष्ट करता है। पवन अग्नि का 'सारथि' (driver) बन गया है, जो उसे एक महल से दूसरे महल तक ले जा रहा है ('अचारयत्')। रावण के पापों ने ही मानो इस हवा को आमंत्रित किया है। यहाँ यह भी संकेत है कि हनुमान जी का श्रम कम हो गया है, क्योंकि अब वायु स्वयं विनाश का कार्य आगे बढ़ा रही है। 'अतिवेगो' शब्द आग की उस गति को दर्शाता है जिससे बचने का लंकावासियों को कोई अवसर नहीं मिला।
