Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तानि भग्नविमानानि निपेतुर्वसुधातले ।
भवनानीव सिद्धानामम्बरात् पुण्यसंक्षये ।

॥५-५४-२४॥
Tāni bhagnavimānāni nipeturvasudhātale । Bhavanānīva siddhānāmambarāt puṇyakṣaye । । ॥5-54-24॥
Translation
Those shattered aerial cars (palaces) fell to the ground just as the abodes of Siddhas fall from the sky when their merit (Punya) is exhausted.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे टूटे हुए विमान (महल) पृथ्वी पर वैसे ही गिर पड़े, जैसे पुण्य क्षीण हो जाने पर सिद्धों के विमान (या स्वयं सिद्धगण) आकाश से गिर पड़ते हैं।
English Commentary
Valmiki uses a profound metaphysical simile here. In Indian cosmology, beings (Siddhas) reside in higher celestial planes only as long as their accumulated merit (Punya) lasts; once exhausted, they fall back to earth. By comparing the collapsing palaces to falling Siddhas, the poet implies that the moral capital of Lanka has run dry. The structural collapse mirrors the ethical collapse. It suggests that height and grandeur without the foundation of Dharma are unstable and destined to fall.

वाल्मीकि जी यहाँ भारतीय दर्शन के एक गहरे सिद्धांत का उपयोग उपमा के रूप में करते हैं। माना जाता है कि स्वर्ग या उच्च लोकों में निवास केवल 'पुण्य' के बल पर होता है; जैसे ही पुण्य क्षीण होता है, जीवात्मा को नीचे गिरना पड़ता है। लंका के ये भव्य महल, जो आकाश को छू रहे थे, अब जलकर ज़मीनदोज़ हो रहे हैं। यह उपमा दर्शाती है कि अधर्म के आधार पर खड़ा वैभव, चाहे कितना भी ऊँचा क्यों न हो, उसका पतन निश्चित है। रावण की लंका का 'पुण्य' अब समाप्त हो चुका है।
